Over the course of his career he worked with some of his country's most distinguished directors, including Jean Cocteau on such productions as "Le Sang d'un Poete" (1930). D'Eaubonne was formally trained to be a painter and a sculptor. He broke into films working as an assistant to production designer Lazare Meerson.
